The story of Shinen Resist (lit. Resist the Abyss) takes place in Basral, a world with a cover pulled over its sky.
With the sun blocked from view and the evaporation of what used to be vast oceans, nature and life within it has withered and died, causing the world to completely fall into ruin, its remains inhabited by a civilization that doesn't know why it is there in the first place, and by “the beasts”—mysterious mechanical bioweapons trying to destroy any and all life they can find.

After having fallen into Basral from the sky, Setsu finds themself amongst the rubble of the destroyed capital, with only slivers of their memory remaining intact. There, they meet Lapomme, an enigmatic creature possessing an abundance of information, and Abel, a young man who manages to save Setsu just before the beasts are able to kill them.
Abel’s determination resonates within Setsu, and a strange power called the “Berserk Resonance” triggers a brutal strength to rise from within him.

In a world where society has only been preparing to die, those that rebel continue to fight for answers, with new hope flickering in their hearts. An era of endurance and a slow descent into Hell have come to an end. The flames of rebellion have been lit!
