Chapter 2 | Part 19: Bypassing Wish

Translation under the cut.

--

Ian: Hey! How is Musashi doing!?

Burgess: He suffered many wounds, but none of them were fatal. It’s a miracle we managed to deal with that beast.

Burgess: We couldn’t salvage his prosthetic leg, though…

Ian: It’s alright. I’m just glad you saved his life. Thank you, everyone.

Burgess: It’s Krone you should be thanking. It’s his bow and arrow that saved you two.

Krone: Pfeh…
Ian: Krone! Just then, you were really… It’s thanks to you that we were able to save Musashi.

Ian: I’m sorry about all this… and everything else...

Krone: Don’t say sorry! It’s not like I was trying to save that pervert, anyway.

Krone: I just… wanted to give that massive piece of shit a good beating, ‘s all.

Ian: I see… You did save us in the process, though. I’m so sorry for causing so much trouble…

Krone: I told you, don’t fucking apologize!

Dolly: Hey! Musashi regained his consciousn― Er, are you two fighting?

Burgess: They’re not fighting. Right, Krone?

Krone: Shut up… Just hurry up and go check on him, Ian.

Ian: Yeah, I will. Thank you, Krone.

Krone: Geh…

Burgess: Good job.

Krone: H-Huh!? I JUST told you to shut the fuck up!

Krone: Ahh, this whole ordeal’s left me fucking exhausted. I’m gonna hit the hay.

Dolly: Wha…? What’s going on? Why is Krone angry?

Burgess: I don’t think he’s angry. Anyway, we should go visit Musashi, as well.

Dolly: Huh…? Y-Yessir…

Musashi: Oh, Ian…

Ian: Musashi! Can you talk?

Musashi: Yes, it’s not a problem. More importantly, Ian, are you alright?

Ian: Me? I’m alright, as you can see. But… why did you…?

Ian: Just a little… Just a little longer and you would’ve died!

Musashi: ...I’ve… always wanted to become one with the beasts.

Musashi: And I’d thought… Finally, finally, my wish would come true…

Ian: ...Become one with the beasts? So… you mean to say…

Musashi: I’ve always been prepared to sacrifice even my very life for that purpose…

Ian: I’d never allow you to do something like that! I’m… not letting you die on me.

Ian: Not you, not Krone, and not Joker, either! I will never allow you to let yourselves die...!!

Musashi: Ian… Fufu… That wish sounds equally as selfish to me.

Musashi: Although… Perhaps not dying in that state of bliss… that state of excitement, might ultimately have been my fate.

Ian: Musashi…

Musashi: There’s no need to worry, I won’t do something like that anymore… That aside, what is this strange feeling?

Ian: Strange feeling? Are you feeling under the weather, maybe?

Musashi: No… It might just be… a little bit of regret.

Burgess: ...Are you almost done talking?

Abel: Oh! Looks like you two are a-okay! That’s a relief…

Dolly: Didn’t Musashi break his prosthetic, though? If so, he can’t walk anymore for a while…

Musashi: Oh, I’ve used replacements before. It will restrict my movement a little bit, but it’s not a big problem.

Burgess: Seems like Ian got to hear the reason behind Musashi’s actions.

Burgess: We should drop the subject, too.

Gerard: Initially I was planning on teaching him a lesson, but… That can wait until after he’s healed.

Dolly: So, what are we going to do from here on out? The place is crawling with beasts.

Gerard: We should leave those be. I wouldn’t dare get involved with that.

Musashi: The area with the pillar… what state is it in?

Burgess: We sent Trueno and Wind to investigate it, but it’s not much different from our last visit there.

Burgess: Although… The amount of beasts is increasing little by little, and they’re seemingly getting more violent on top of that.

Burgess: It seems like they’re destroying whatever building is within the area.

Abel: Huh!? That’s bad! Shouldn’t we do somethin’ about that?

Dolly: We should turn off the electricity! If we do that, they’ll go back to where they came from!

Burgess: We can’t. They’re gathering around the streetlights at the power plant’s site, as well.

Burgess: If we approach without thinking, we’ll have to fight a very large amount of beasts, even if they’re at a distance.

Dolly: Are you serious… But we didn’t even get the chance to look for batteries there yet…

Musashi: Uhm… Everyone, if I may…

Burgess: What’s wrong, Musashi?

Musashi: This may sound strange, but… If there is a possibility to defeat Vishnu, then I think we should give that a go.

Flost: That gigantic beast?

Burgess: With that many other beasts around, defeating something that large would be very difficult…

Burgess: But it's up to you, Musashi. Judging by what you're saying, it sounds like you've got something in mind.

Musashi: Indeed… While I was fighting Vishnu, I’d noticed something.

Musashi: While its entire body is covered with firm metal, its neck remains bare.

Musashi: If we attack that spot using our Berserk transformation, we might be able to destroy it.

Burgess: I see… Attacking its weak spot, huh. The basics of battle.

Musashi: Although it will, of course, be difficult to fight if we don’t get close enough.

Burgess: First we’ll need to get rid of the beasts surrounding Vishnu. Then, we’ll need a team that provokes it to attack from a long distance.

Burgess: And lastly, we’ll need a team to deliver the finishing blow. If we split ourselves up like that, I guess we can fight it.

Abel: That means we’ll definitely beat that thing, right? Heck yeah!

Musashi: ...To think you were able to set up a strategy involving this many people so quickly… I’d expected no less of you, Burgess.

Burgess: Haha. We can’t afford to be careless now, can we? Since I’m sure you’ll join the team that delivers the final strike.

Ian: Wh―! Absolutely not! Musashi isn’t ready yet! He was unconscious up until only a moment ago…

Burgess: His injuries aren’t that bad, are they? Besides, if we want to accurately hit Vishnu’s weak spot, we’ll need his knowledge.

Musashi: I’ll gladly participate.

Dolly: We’ll be in trouble if he wanders off during the fight, though…

Burgess: Alright, then we’ll divide the teams now. Let’s gather everyone.

Gerard: I object! Why do I need to take care of the small fry, while Abel gets to fight Vishnu!?

Burgess: Now, now, Gerard, calm down. With that many beasts around, fighting will be harder for the others.

Burgess: Without someone with a wide field of vision and the ability to make quick decisions and support the other two teams, we won’t be able to make this work.

Gerard: Hm. The ability to make quick decisions, huh… That’s definitely important when there are so many of them... Fine. I’ll leave it to you.

Abel: We’re countin’ on you, Gerard!

Gerard: Shut your mouth!! ...You better do your best, too.

Burgess: Speaking of which… Dolly, Flost, and Evan will join Gerard’s group.

Burgess: My group will function as decoys. Trueno, Wind, Volker, I’m counting on you.

Burgess: We will disperse and provoke Vishnu. Abel and Musashi’s group will attack it while it’s distracted.

Flost: It’s a very rough strategy. Will we be okay?

Burgess: If we focus on the minute details too much, we’ll get distracted and fail, that’s why.

Burgess: We’ll only agree on the fundamentals. After that, everyone is allowed to do as they see fit.

Evan: That might actually help, yeah.

Ian: Alright, understood. Musashi, Krone, Joker, do you agree with this?

Musashi: Yes. I find this to be a good arrangement.

Krone: There’s nothing I can do about it, so I’m coming with you.

Joker: ...Do I have to join?

Krone: Fucking obviously! At a time like this? You gotta.

Joker: ...Okay.

Burgess: Alright. We’ll carry the plan out tomorrow! Rest plenty tonight, everyone.

Dolly: Woahh… haha… That’s a lot of beasts. This might be a problem.

Gerard: This isn’t a problem at all! Let’s get rid of these as quickly as possible, and head for Vishnu!
